Before arriving on Wednesday night it had continued to snow. Thursday was bluebird, but with a slight NW breeze the snow surface was keeping cold. Starting from Alta, YC was wondering what she had got herself into.
It looked like we were going to be in for a very good day of skiing. Out of Alta, YC announced that she'd left her sunnies at home, so I had to drop back to the store to pick up some new ones.
We ascended to the pass and then continued up the ridge towards Patsey Marley. There had been a few slides on some of the steep NE faces which looked to have run during the storm. I took a quick lap on the upper part of PM: a bit winded, but pretty good. We dropped into the lower part of Wolverine off the ridge. Plenty of Pow!
We navigated generally right, heading towards Figure 8 hill.
Which naturally involved YC getting stuck.
The snow on F8 was quite deep: you didn't have to push on your pole very hard for it to go up to the handle.
YC seemed to be having some problems with the set up on the Split so was doing her fair share of face-plants.
I took another lap on F8 before we climbed out. The wind was picking up a bit at this point. YC was getting a bit tired, so guess who had to carry all the gear.
More good skiing on PM down to the car.
A beautiful day in the mountains with some really good snow. Back at the ranch we figured out the board was not correctly set up with the stance way too tight. Hopefully the adjustments would sort it out.
