On Friday the plan was to go from Blackcomb to Decker and beyond. Early morning the weather was socked in so we went off the back of Whistler instead. Starting from the Peak, we skied down to the base of Flute and then skinned to the summit of Lesser Flute.
Dropping in over a mix of rotten snow and rocks we skied down to Oboe Creek.
We ascended in clearing weather to just below the summit of Oboe. We then skied 4 laps in Oboe Trees, taking a more skiers left line than on Monday. The snow was very good - boot high low density powder and it just didn't make sense to go anywhere else.
Trees with lots of snow on them!
Lee ripping!
The trailing arm - AGAIN!
Up for another lap
We had been eyeing Cowboy Ridge all day. Finally at the end it was too much to bear. We hammered it to the ridge line and after a few ski cuts skied a lookers right line off the ridge. We were skiing new snow which had bonded well to the old bed surface. The snow surface was wind-board which as ever, made for some excellent sweeping turns.
Lines on Cowboy
The exit was via Singing Pass. The trail was in generally good condition but it was quite dangerous at the bottom. Most of the creeks were not filled in and had a nasty habit of turning up when you least expected them! A great day out in the mountains with Utah-like low density powder in the trees.
