After skiing over Easter in the resort and then an aborted trip, it was a while since I had been in the backcountry. Spring had certainly come around as it was 50F in the Alta parking lot at 7am. It was going to be a short day, skiing some S facers and looking for corn. We skinned up through Alta to Supreme and dropped off the back into Dry Fork.

The corn was quite good.

The newest member of the team!

And another one - on his first outing into the BC.

The skiing was good down to about 9,500ft. Below there, if there was any snow, it was not supportable.

We cranked out a few laps in the morning sun. Nelson and I then skinned up to the base of Supreme to Wolverine. From there we traversed along Patsey Marley hoping to hit a NW before it got too manky. Skiing at this time of year definitely requires some novel techniques: navigating rocks....

...and a few bushes....

Even though it was only 1pm, the NW was already starting to lose supportability. The top section skied quite well, but the bottom wasn't the best. There was no one else around, and perhaps this face will not get skied again until next season.

Post skiing, we went to Hellgate for a quick climb. A fun day in the sun with some good corn skied.
