On Sunday, it was warmer: considerably warmer. We went to Porter Fork with the intention of skiing some of the lower angle tree runs. Fortunately someone else had broken the trail for us the day before. The snow was quite deep and trailbreaking would have been quite tough.

The skintrack from above....

We ascended from the trailhead all the way to the saddle between Raymond and Peak 9861. We followed the conservative route that Andrew and Lars had set the day before.

Compared to the yesterday in Beartrap / Mill D this was blissfully quiet. From the saddle we could see all the carnage in Mill B, Broads, and Stairs.

A close up of the monster slide in Stairs.

Sticking to low angle terrain, we skied the N-facing route that we had ascended. The going was easier than yesterday since the snow had compacted somewhat.

Low angle!

Back in the trees.

Back in the meadows.

From the meadow, we ascended to the right of the big slide path underneath Peak 9776. It was getting ridiculously hot at this point and the snow was turning to cement. At the turn around point, my skis decided that they didn't have any wax on them making it near impossible to go downhill. Every 200' I would have to remove them to scrape off all the ice and snow.

After descending through the trees to the meadows enough was enough and we aborted the day, skiing back down past the cabins to the trailhead.
