After the excitement of the Abeni Flue our original plan had been to ascend the Mittaghorn, the peak opposite, and descend down the Loetschen Valley to Blatten from there. A few folks had warned us about wind loading there and seeing the guide we had been drinking with the night before turn around, we thought it better to ski straight past the hut and access the valley via the saddle.
Skiing above the hut was still good, though it had received a few hours of sun by then.
