4 days at Blackcomb and it was time to suck it up....and go to Whistler. It was a real storm day with gusts at the peak exceeding 60mph. With the Alpine closed we spent a great afternoon on Emerald getting hammered by the elements: no pictures there. It was bluebird early on Thursday so we went back to ski some of the more interesting lines off the peak. Unfortunately my D-SLR blew up and we were too busy bagging lines to take pictures.

Later on, feeling optimistic, I went for my annual huck off the cornice at the top of the West Bowl. You only get to see the take off and not the landing.

Rime at the Peak.

Happily back in Blackcomb on Friday, Dom was trying to shed his mid-life crisis...

...with massive air...

...and massive rails.

For me, it was finally getting around to skiing the Curl. I saw this line off the RHS of the Glacier Chair years ago and whilst having seen tracks in it occasionally, I had never seen anyone ski it. It has a couple of tricky bits to it: the entrance is very exposed and the ramp, whilst wide, is a very steep rock slab. So you have to be very wary of any sluffs.
