Over the weekend temperatures rose and the winds picked up as the next Pacific system approached. The skiing was fairly dreadful so on Monday I decided to try and climb the Great White Icicle. For those not familiar with it, the GWI, located at mile 2 in LCC, is a series of ice pitches that is supposedly skiable. For an Ice Climb it is not that steep, though for a ski run it certainly is!

My instructor Caroline, in addition to doing most of the leg work on Tanners last week, certainly made this look easy.

I wasn't quite sure about the don't-use-leashes-school-of-thought.

Almost at the top!

At the end of the day it was actually quite easy - made even more so by the condition of the ice. There's only really one bulge which you can muscle your way over, whilst the rest was a bit like climbing a step-ladder. No doubt feeling inspired, I then went for a bike ride. The winds were nuking by then, which made the riding quite interesting.
