Following some novel control works(!?!) the gates were open.

We were the first hiking up from Gad2. Note to self: Don't be the step-kicker when your boots have new liners.

The wind was keeping the snow surface at the higher elevations from softening.

We hung out a bit at the top waiting for the sun to work, watching some dudes practicing safe chute skiing.


No doubt pleased that the WPG were almost done for the year, one of the local residents was out.

We got a report that it was starting to get mushy at the bottom, so rather than deal with a never ending slog through the trees, we decided to suffer 200ft of concrete.

And concrete it was. By the middle of the main chute it was starting to corn up.

Though Phil seemed determine to cut through the junk.

The run-out was sublime.
